The Harry Potter dress on the left is eerily similar to an Alexander McQueen dress that was exhibited earlier.

The HP dress features a phoenix, whereas the McQ dress features peacocks. The HP dress also has a longer hemline, but it is arguable that the HP dress is more than just referencing the original, and is steppping on copyright territory.

Do I Need Intellectual Property Law?

Intellectual property (IP) law protects original works and creations, such as a logo, a book, a song, a jewelry design, a software program, or a new invention. The three main categories of intellectual property law are copyrights, trademarks, and patents. It is likely that you have previously created an original work that qualifies for intellectual property law protection.
